News from the LePlan winery

seb and ann bottleSummer is here and it’s a hot one…

Hi LePlan Lovers, it’s been a while sinds I’ve written something on the blog, and i’m truly sorry.

We have been extremely busy these past few months.

In the vineyards we have been really lucky for the moment as we have not sufferd any frost nor hail for the moment. I must say that with the extreme temperatures we have from the beginning of June (more than 35° almost every day) the vines are beginning to suffer from dryness. But with a little luck we will have two or three rain storms coming our way before the end of august and all will be ok. The vineyards in the south of France are mainly planted with varieties who like it hot, for example Carignan, Grenache and Mourvedre. The Syrah grapes like a little more freshness but we still can not order colder temperatures, so we will deal with it :)

In the cellar we are still bottling whites and roses because you guys are drinking a lot of those at the moment! After a well deserved break we will start prepping for harvest mid august.

Also in the cellar we are installing some new concrete vinification tanks, because we needed some more space. I have never worked with these before so I’m quite curious to see how this will go. I will post some pictures once they are in place.

Maybe you have seen us on FB or Insta, as we have been doing quite a lot of tastings the last month, we have been at the #lesestivalesdurhone in Avigon, a series of 3 days in june organised by The compagnons des Côtes du Rhône. This was a reel success and we will be there again next year. Then there was the Bar a Vin of Interrhone for the tasting of Les Côtes du Rhône Villages Suze la Rousse during the #festivaldavignon. This was a great night with other winemaker friends.

For those not far, friday the 14th july we present our magnums at La Table du Moulin in Suze la Rousse, they are serving an unique menu a la Plancha and it should be great fun.

And of course, I’m still welcoming you at our cellar for a visit and some tasting every weekday from 14h to 18h. For groups or specific hours, send me an email by our Contact page.

Lots of love,

Ann
